Sustainability & Community Impact
At Lombok Diving Course PADI, we believe that true luxury is inseparable from responsibility. We are privileged to operate in one of the most biodiverse and beautiful marine environments on Earth—the Coral Triangle. This privilege comes with a profound duty to protect it. As a core principle of our parent, Juara Holding Group, sustainability is not an afterthought; it is integrated into every aspect of our operations, from our choice of partners to the way we conduct our PADI courses.
Our Three Pillars of Commitment
1. Marine Conservation & Ecosystem Protection
Our business depends on a healthy ocean. We are committed to being active stewards of Lombok’s marine ecosystems.
- Financial Contributions: We pledge to donate 1% of our annual revenue directly to our local conservation partner, the Gili Eco Trust. These funds support their vital Biorock coral reef restoration projects, sea turtle rehabilitation, and waste management initiatives.
- PADI AWARE Foundation™: All our students are educated on the principles of the PADI AWARE movement. Every certification we issue includes a donation to the foundation, supporting global ocean protection efforts.
- Data Collection: Our instructors and guides participate in citizen science programs like Dive Against Debris®, collecting and reporting data on marine plastic pollution during our dives.
- Reef-Safe Practices: We enforce a strict policy of providing and using only reef-safe sunscreens. We also educate all guests on passive interaction with marine life and perfect buoyancy control to prevent accidental reef damage.
2. Environmental Responsibility in Operations
We strive to minimize our operational footprint and set a new standard for eco-conscious tourism in Lombok.
- Zero Single-Use Plastics: Our boats and all catered experiences are completely free of single-use plastics. We provide guests with reusable water bottles and use locally sourced, sustainable containers for all food and beverages.
- Carbon Offsetting: We calculate the carbon emissions from our boat operations and client land transfers. We then offset 100% of these emissions through a partnership with a Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) certified Indonesian reforestation project.
- Sustainable Sourcing: We prioritize local suppliers for our provisions, from coffee to fresh fruit, reducing food miles and supporting the local economy. Our boat engines are modern, well-maintained four-stroke models, chosen for their fuel efficiency and low emissions.
3. Community Empowerment & Cultural Preservation
Our success is intertwined with the well-being of the local Sasak communities of Lombok.
- Local Employment: We are committed to a ‘Lombok First’ hiring policy. Over 90% of our staff—from boat captains to administrative support—are from local Lombok communities. We provide fair wages, comprehensive benefits including BPJS insurance, and opportunities for professional development.
- Supporting Local Enterprises: We partner with local communities for authentic cultural experiences, such as visits to traditional weaving villages or Sasak cooking classes, ensuring that the economic benefits flow directly to the community members.
- Cultural Respect: Our team provides all guests with a cultural briefing, fostering a deeper understanding and respect for local customs and traditions.
Our commitment to sustainability is an ongoing journey. We continually review our practices, guided by our methodology, to find new ways to protect the natural and cultural heritage of this incredible island.
